Google Has Now Made It Simple To Find A Lost Or Stolen Smartphone - Here's How

Several years ago, Apple gave IPhone users the ability to locate their missing phone or tablet using the Find IPhone App. Google followed by releasing the Android Device Manager App that provides Android users the same capability. In both cases, you can locate a device, set off the ringer, lock and completely erase all data, if needed. Google has now made the process much easier - just Google "Find My Phone". Simply start a Google search and type Find My Phone.

There are a few caveats.

  1. First, you have to make sure you're logged in to the same Google account on your PC's browser (Google Chrome), that you use on your phone. Fire up Google Chrome and login to your Google Account.
  2. You must also have the latest version of the Google app installed on your Android device.
  3. Finally, wait a few minutes and you will see the device location on a map, that's accurate to within 50'-70'. You also have the option of making the lost phone, ring. If you click on the phone icon it will start the Android Device Manager and offer you two additional options - lock or erase.
While this new method does not add any additional features to the original Android Device Manager, it is certainly quick and easy to use.
